Gratitude is what launched my photography journey. Gratitude is what has trained my heart and eye better than any workshop. Gratitude unlocks my joy. It’s a slippery little devil though. Hard to cling to in a season of raising young women with all the feelings. Hard to hold onto as days blur into a distracted, unholy mess. Hard to muster in a global pandemic when all the world seems to heave and groan.

Then along comes a newborn session. Something happens inside of me when I train my heart and lens on new life. The frustrations of life seem to melt away at their steady gaze. The noise and distractions are drowned out by their sweet gurgles and coos.

Feeling grateful all over again today for this family and the goodness their newborn photo and film session spilled into mine recently.
