My heart and my camera are this woman’s for life.
When my youngest (Cora), who has an underdeveloped left hand, decided she wanted to play violin, MaeLynn took her on as a student. Despite the challenge only two full-grown fingers presented, MaeLynn told me, “I want to be a part of her story.” …and then I cried.
Turns out I get to be a part of MaeLynn’s story too! It’s been a joy to photograph (and now film) four out of her five cuties as newborns. As their home has become busier and happier with each little arrival, MaeLynn and her husband continue to awe me with their tender, calm, and collected style of parenting. They make five look easy—and, in my humble opinion, shouldn’t stop now! 😉
Nothing surprises me about MaeLynn’s ability to make each of her children feel seen and treasured, because week after week, I saw how special she made Cora feel. There were times when violins were laid down just to talk about the emotions swirling around a difficult piece. MaeLynn always had the right words to empower Cora to try again by reminding her of the bigger picture.
Violin lessons ended just after COVID. I sometimes wonder if Cora chose the violin to prove something to herself and the world. Undaunted, her next challenge has been aerials (as in silks and the trapeze). When Cora is dangling 40 feet in the air gripping a silk with that tiny hand and two fingers, I’m sometimes reminded of MaeLynn and the grip strength she taught Cora’s hand and heart.
Thank you, MaeLynn, for the beautiful imprint you made on Cora’s life. I hope you can read my heart for you in these. xo
If you or someone you know (in the Boston area) is looking for a newborn photographer or filmmaker to capture the fleeting newness of a precious baby soon to arrive, please reach out. I would love to document the breathtakingly beautiful moments of that new life.
