Happy Valentine’s Day! 💘📸

Photographing couples makes me just as nervous as it makes them. Kids who are feral and climbing trees? I’m calm, confident, and in my element. Mom and dad with a moment to themselves? We all freeze up for a second like it’s middle school picture day. Their hands get weird and smiles get polite. I might draw a blank on prompts and poses…that is until I grasp the importance of the moment.

I can almost always tell when there was a disagreement on the car ride over (the silence is…loud), and I know preparing for our session was probably the cause of it. I feel a little responsible! But here’s the truth: if I do my job right, they don’t leave that way. They leave softer. More connected than they have felt all week.

And those images? They matter more than you think. Framed photos of mom and dad aren’t just for them, they’re for their kids who pass those photos on the wall every day. Their marriage is their children’s foundation. A photograph can affirm their love on a good day and quietly say this is worth fighting for on a hard one.

So today, thank you to all the couples who’ve let down their guard, laughed through the awkward, and trusted me with something so sacred. I don’t take it lightly. 💕
