The heart is the most flexible muscle in the body. It’s really remarkable how it will always stretch to make space for new people we love.

I had the special privilege of meeting a family with giant hearts stretched by foster babies over the years. They were content to love on those babies for the time they were given until one baby came along who changed everything.

We filmed this Moving Portrait on a rainy morning about a month before Raven’s adoption was finalized. Witnessing his family’s love for him and for one another was so beautiful. As I wove their story together, along with their personal images and Mama’s tender words, I was struck at how one sanctified “yes” can lead to such rich blessings and deep joy.

Raven, God is writing you a tender story. I hope that when you’re grown, you’ll watch your film and see how cherished and chosen you were from your very beginning.
