I asked my sweet client if I would have permission to share what she wrote to me after watching her second family film. I don’t share it here to pat myself on the back. I share it to undergird my truth…a camera in the hands of a photographer/filmmaker willing to fall hopelessly in love with their clients becomes an instrument of hope and healing. I’ll keep singing this song until the day my business folds up gently. At the end of the day, it’s not about the product…it’s about the process. How we make our clients FEEL about themselves and their family is how they will feel about their products.
“At the risk of sounding overly effusive, you have created a dramatic shift in how I am able to see myself in the context of my family. Beyond the surface of the pictures (which are clearly gorgeous and technical perfection) you are able to somehow evoke the very love that we are building and cultivating in our family through photo and film. I am so grateful for you, your gift, your presence and the healing that you have inadvertently offered me.”
Thank you, Emily, for these words. They affirmed the mission I’m on: to use my camera as an instrument of hope and healing. xo
