It was such a joy meeting this brand new family and their sweet little guy. They were so warm and welcoming that I knew the minute I met them I’d savor their session.

I loved her first question for me: “We’ve never had this kind of {lifestyle} session before, how does this go?” I get that question often and can usually hear the tension in it. We don’t live out our lives in front of mirrors…it’s so hard to trust that our everyday kind of moments are really this beautiful.

I promised her I’d guide them into moments of connection but never pose. I made her promise to forget I was there and focus on her family…that the rest was up to me.

If I’ve learned anything in photography it’s that: a.) the most fleeting moments can make the biggest impact and b.) it’s not the client’s job to make a moment beautiful…it’s my job to see the beauty in their moment.

I can always sense trust from a client and it feeds my creativity. I was so grateful for these awesome people and the trust they placed in me to capture them in this tender season as a new family.
