FAQs

Where are you located and where will my session be?

I’m located just north of Boston, and my sessions typically take place within a 30 minute radius of the city.  As permitted, I’m happy to travel further but charge a travel fee for locations beyond that. In general I love to shoot in locations that reflect the interests, memories and connections of the clients I photograph. I use natural light in clients’ homes, parks, nature preserves, farms, downtown areas, and other scenic locations. Sessions are scheduled when the lighting is best (preferably two hours before sunset, if outdoors).

We’ll work together to come up with the best possible time and location for you!

When is the best time to schedule my session?

Family, senior and engagement sessions are typically scheduled from mid-April to mid-November, when it’s warm enough outside. At-home, Day in Your Life, First Day and newborn sessions happen year-round. The best time to photograph newborns is 2-8 weeks after birth when they’re the sleepiest but I’m happy to schedule beyond that window!

For any session, I’m usually booked 2-4 months in advance. For newborns that means the best time to contact me is a few months before your due date.

Any advice on preparing for our session?

Yes! After signing our contract, I’ll be sharing with you a Preparing For Your Session sheet with all kinds of tips along with links to helpful Pinterest boards. It should answer every burning question you might have.

How do I book a session?

Use the contact form on this website or feel free to email me directly at [email protected] Please try to contact me as early as possible to have your pick of dates.

Do you charge for prints?

Nope. Never. No way. For one flat price (see pricing page) you get all your hi-res digital images, all in color and many converted to black and white. That said…

In providing you all your digital images (i.e. not placing print orders for you) I assume a risk that your prints will look horrible. On average I spend several hours culling through and editing your images. My nightmare is you ordering prints from Walgreens. Oh, the horror!!! White balance, skin tones, color saturation are all minors to the kid behind the Walgreens photo counter but majors to me. The images are all yours free and clear but if I come to your house and weep when I see the Walgreens print on your wall, you’ll know why! 🙂

I recommend ordering your prints direct through your gallery. Your order is fulfilled by my preferred professional lab, Miller’s, at no markup (i.e. I make no profit from your prints). Pro labs print on higher quality printers and paper. If you’d prefer to spend a little less on lesser quality (but still great!) prints, then I recommend uploading your images to MPix – the best consumer print lab I’ve tried.

How do I see my images after the session?

I’ll email a link to your private gallery about a week after our session. You can order prints, download and even share to social media direct from there!

What payment options do you take?

I ask for a $100 deposit to hold your date and will invoice the balance after you’ve received your gallery. I accept checks and all major credit cards.
