Family session: Arlington Spy Pond

This family is dear to me – it’s been a joy photographing their growing family over the years. They’re a laid-back, easy kind of family. There’s an intentionality in the way they love and a depth of love honed out of pain and loss. I see it in mom’s eyes – that happy sad kind of look that knows time is a raging current. I see it in dad’s silliness and the way he nuzzles a cheek.

There are so many things to love about these people, but what I love most is their connection. I crave connection in my images. I don’t want to freeze a moment in time for the families I photograph, I want to elevate it – to document the beauty in their everyday connections. Here are a few of those moments. It’s so moving for me to be invited into that space.
